CHILI PUBLIC LIBRARY

ANNUAL REPORT TO THE COMMUNITY

▪Year Ending December 31, 2007▪

  Message from the Director.
..2007 has proven to be an exciting year for me and the Chili Public Library.  I have been welcomed by the community as the new library director and I could not be happier.  We have had a banner year with the library circulating 348,511 materials, receiving 181,057 visits to the library, and providing 343 programs for children, teens, and adults.  Each service surpassed the previous year's activity.

The Summer Reading Program was particularly successful.  638 children participated in the library's State-wide program and read a total of 195,900 pages throughout the summer  What better way to engage our youth in the joys of reading than at the public library.

In 2007, the library acquired 20 new public computers each with Microsoft Office 2007, a new server and color printer, and a Brightboard digital signage system.  To maintain order and cleanliness at the library, we started a successful Dewey Dusters program where volunteers from the community "adopt a shelf."

It is through the efforts of the active and caring library board, staff, Friends, Junior Friends and volunteers that the library is able to provide for the needs of the community in a cost effective manner.
