Friends of the Library

Mission Statement

The purpose of the corporation is to assist the Irondequoit Public Library by bringing the services of the Library to the attention of the public and by raising money to purchase equipment, sponsor programs and otherwise assist the library in its financial needs.

The Friends through the purchasing of equipment, materials and programs for the Library will broaden the services of the library.  The major fund raising will be through membership sales.  The Friends of the Irondequoit Public Library is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization

Membership

Many types of tax deductible membership options are available

Business, Club & Organization

Business, Clubs and Organizations are welcome to join.  If your group is interested and would like to learn more about Friends' programs, please contact Terry Buford, Library Director at 336-6064

Special Event or Tribute Membership

Celebrate births, graduations and other special events with a donation to the Friends in his/her name. Use a tribute donation to recognize a special teacher or to honor an achievement.

Memorials

You may also wish to consider a Memorial donation to remember a loved one.  The Friends organization is registered as not-for-profit and may be designated by families for memorial donations in lieu of flowers.

The Board is looking for some new board members.  Interested individuals are invited to attend the Friends' monthly meeting.


Fundraising



Zippered Totebag

The current fundraising project for the Friends is a zippered totebag. There is a mesh pocket on each side along with a zippered pocket in the front. The main compartment can also be zippered shut. They are currently available at both branches for $10 each.




2010 "Book Lover's" Daily Calendar

The Friends are also offering a 2010 Page-A-Day "Book Lover's" Calendar. It will be available after Labor Day for $10 at both branches.



2008 Friends Cookbook
Sold Out

The Friends Cookbook published in Spring 2008 contains over 150 delicious recipes from the community and local photos. It is currently SOLD OUT. Several copies are in circulation at the library

We are currently working on a second edition and are beginning to collect recipes. Contact Chris Finger at 338.7992 for more information.
