Entering the city from the west in 1853, horses pulled canal
boats along the towpath near todays Main Street into the
center of the business district, a route that remained the same
for almost one hundred years. |
Within a few years, motorized boats made deliveries to stores
and businesses on docks like the one near old City Hall, stacked
with barrels and kegs. |
